Lil Nas X Ran the New York City Half Marathon in Coach Hightop Sneakers

Who says you can't be fashionable while running 13.1 miles?

Though he is known for his bold fashion choices, Lil Nas X's latest fashion statement was quite unexpected. We've seen his collaborations with Coach as a brand ambassador—he even walked the Spring/Summer 2023 runway. But this takes brand collabs to the next level.

According to Page Six, the "Old Town Road" singer signed up last minute to run the United New York City Half Marathon, which begins in Brooklyn and goes through Times Square before ending in Central Park. Apprently ill-equipped for the occasion, Lil Nas X was banking on quickly getting a pair of running shoes before the Half Marathon started on Sunday March 17. But when he showed up, the shoe store was closed, and Lil Nas X ended up having to wear the pair of white Coach high top sneakers

Despite the uncomfortable choice of shoes, Lil Nas X successfully completed the race. According to New York Road Runners, he ran the 13.1-mile course in 2 hours, 32 minutes, and 53 seconds. Not too shabby given that the rapper isn't an experienced runner—he had never even run more than three miles before joining the New York City Half Marathon

Shortly after completing the race, the rapper took to Instagram stories to share a few updates on the race. "Hey at least I made it tuh," he captioned a photo of himself in a wheelchair post-race. Considering he was wearing sneakers that weren't suitable for running to begin with, it's surprising how good of a mood he seemed to be in.

The distressed white high tops are currently sold out on Coach's website, but are retailing on Zappos for $162.25. Maybe a good time for a restock?
