Peach Pachara On His New Netflix Series 'The Believers'
Here’s what went down at the press conference for the Thai actor’s new Netflix project
Well-loved in Thailand for his many talents, Pachara ‘Peach’ Chirathivat is a force to be reckoned with. His continuously growing endeavours are surely putting him on the global radar–especially now with a huge new project under his belt. Last April, the Thai actor-entrepreneur was in Manila to promote his new Netflix series The Believers.
The Thai icon is no stranger to the limelight. Peach made his acting debut in 2011 with the movie SuckSeed directed by Chayanop Boonprakob, which garnered nothing but stellar reviews at the box office. This was immediately followed by another hit film in the same year titled The Billionaire where he played the main role. In his succeeding films and series, he often acted in genres like comedy and drama. Now, all eyes are on his newest acting project under Netflix.
At the exclusive press conference hosted at Bar Flora in Quezon City, Peach arrived decked out in a sleek, all-black suit and was all smiles as he greeted everyone in attendance. After a few pleasantries were exchanged, the event followed through with the viewing of a short excerpt from his new Netflix series alongside fellow Thai actors Teeradon Supapunpinyo and Achiraya Nitibhon.
Taking on a noticeably different genre from his past acting projects, Peach highlighted his excitement towards working on The Believers. “To start off, it’s the first project I’ve done that is related to temples and it’s kind of an investigative thriller in a way. So it’s really rare from the usual Thai content as well because we don’t really do that kind of stuff much,” he shared with L'OFFICIEL in a one-on-one interview.
Tackling on a serious theme circling religion which is deemed to be a very big topic in Thailand, the cast holds great trust towards the success of the series. Peach says: “We really wanted to make it work. Everyone's really collaborating. Because we think it really could be something big and very impactful to people as well.”
Outside of the series’ plot, the Thai actor was also very hands-on during its production process, specifically the scoring. When asked about taking on roles both in front of the camera and behind-the-scenes, Peach shared, “It took me eight months to write the score for the whole thing. We ended up writing around 200 songs before we selected which song was going to which scene. It’s been good fun.”
The multi-hyphenate isn’t just talented in the acting and music department, but he also has an incredible flair in the business side of things–especially counting his many ventures which include bringing Potato Corner from our country to the Thai market. Amazingly, his connection with the Philippines runs deep as he shares his love for our motherland and how fond he is of the many similarities between the culture and people of both Thailand and the Philippines. With that, he also expressed his enthusiasm for potential acting projects in the Philippines if given the opportunity. He shared, “I really want to merge the cultures between ASEAN countries. That’s always a good start, to work with some actors and actresses from our sister country.”
