Stray Kids to Headline London-Based Music Festival BST Hyde Park on July 14
The eight-piece group is also set to headline at Milan-based music festival I-Days in July.
K-pop boy group Stray Kids is making waves overseas. The eight-piece boyband will headline at BST Hyde Park, a major London-based music festival, on July 14 this year. Members Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin, and I.N. will be performing as the first Korean boy group act to ever headline the festival, marking a huge milestone for the JYP Entertainment group.
While the supporting lineup for BST has yet to be announced, this year’s edition of the music festival also includes other headlining artists from around the globe including Andrea Bocelli, the Italian tenor, as well as English singer-songwriter Robbie Williams. Stray Kids are the second Korean act to headline at the festival, with the first being global stars Blackpink, who took the BST Hyde Park stage by storm last year. Pre-sale information for Stray Kids’ headlining performance has already been released on the festival’s official website.
Aside from their major gig in London, the boys of Stray Kids are out to prove their global reach with another headlining show at the Milan music festival I-Days. For the Italian festival, the ‘God’s Menu’ singers will be taking over on July 12, just two days before their BST show. Other major music acts in the lineup for I-Days this year include Metallica, Lana Del Rey, Doja Cat, Avril Lavigne and Bring Me The Horizon. Pre-sale details for Stray Kids’ performance at I-Days have also been published on the festival’s website.
Stray Kids’ headlining shows at these music festivals are just another breakthrough for the Hallyu Wave. While Korean music acts were previously mainly popular within the Asian region, the move to feature the ‘Maniac’ singers on major stages in the UK and Europe just proves how global the K-pop scene has become. Fans of Stray Kids (aka Stays) have already flooded the Instagram accounts of both muscial festivals with shoutouts of support and excitement.
Debuting in 2018, the members of Stray Kids were brought together under JYP Entertainment, through a trainee survival programme of the same name. In just under 6 years, the group has released many hit tracks such as ‘Miroh’, ‘Astronaut’, ‘Case 143’ and ‘S-Class’. Just last November, the boys of Stray Kids most recently made a comeback with ‘LALALALA’ from their eighth EP ROCK-STAR.
