Win Metawin Attends "Under Parallel Skies" Media Conference in Manila
The Thai actor starring in the cross-country film took the opportunity to engage with the Filipino press to discuss his first international movie.
It was just last year that Thai actor and worldwide fashion ambassador Win Metawin visited the Philippines for his first solo fan meet. He was back in the country to promote his debut foreign film Under Parallel Skies to his adoring Filipino fans, as well as meet the press for this junket. Prior to the Grand Media Conference held last April 2 at the Hilton Manila, Win made appearances at SM Mall of Asia and Glorietta on April 1 for a movie promo and instant fan meet.
Win was accompanied by his co-star, actress Janella Salvador, Director Sigrid Andrea Bernardo, and movie producers Richard Juan and Khristoff Cagape from 28 Squared Studios for the media conference. They alternated in responding to questions from the media regarding Under Parallel Skies, which was primarily filmed in Hong Kong. Both Win and Janella frequently visit the country, but they have not yet filmed a movie there.
Richard emphasized the need of highlighting in the movie not only the typical tourist spots but also the lesser-known, hidden treasures of Hong Kong. Janella stated that the majority of their scenes were filmed on Peng Chau, a small island situated in Hong Kong. “They really live simply there. It was very nice to observe how different their way of living is there,” she shares. Win discussed how he had such a good experience working with the Filipino team. “Our culture is very similar so I don’t have to adapt or change so much. I blended in very easily,” he shares. Under Parallel Skies narrates the journey of a Thai bachelor named Parin (Metawin) as he ventures to Hong Kong to find his long-lost mother. He meets a Filipino hotelier named Iris (Salvador) who assists him in understanding love, loss, and recovery in the unfamiliar city despite their cultural and identity disparities.
Before the media conference concluded, Janella was surprised by the producers together with Director Sigrid and Win with a birthday cake since it was the actress’ birthday last March 30. The stars of the movie also announced that the premier gala night of Under Parallel Skies will take place on April 16 at SM Megamall, and both stars will be in attendance. Under Parallel Skies will be released in cinemas across the Philippines on April 17, Singapore on May 1, and Thailand on May 9. This is the first film produced by 28 Squared Studios and the first Filipino film to be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures this year.
