3 Men's Fashion Trends Dominating the Fall/Winter Season
We take a look at several menswear trends that dominated the Fall and Winter collections of 2023/24. This time, the focus is on elegance, classiness and timeless fashion
Maxi Length Coats
Half coats or midi-length coats are overshadowed this year by aristocratic maxi-length coats, seen at Saint Laurent, Ami in the collections of Paris, Emporio Armani, Fendi, Loewe and other fashion houses.
Classic straight silhouette, a tighter spread or soft shoulder line, beautifully fitted lapels and a double-breasted fastening; each exuding elegance. They are sewn from high-quality wool, cashmere or tweed fabric, with the prevailing colour scheme including a range of neutral shades: grey, black, granite brown, chocolate, brown, ecru, ivory and milky white.
Old Money
The old money trend showcases the style of high society individuals in traditional classics. This style, favoured by fashion house Loro Piana, is famous for some of the most luxurious fabrics, also seen in Hermés, Brioni, Ermenegildo Zegna and other brands that nurture textile craftsmanship and tradition.
In autumn, the old money look is created with monochrome combinations, layering the same or similar colour shades of classic clothes, such as an elegant coat, sweater and shirt. Also featured in the look are light jackets in neutral shades – often double-breasted – and darker trousers or combining classic and safari styles.
The trend steeped in tradition is characterized by textured, luxurious, natural fabrics and materials such as cashmere, merino wool, silk velvet, corduroy, genuine leather, and sheepskin. Classic patterns also reflect the trend in the form of herringbone patterns, printed with thin stripes and wool fabrics up to various checks.
Shades of Grey
All variations of grey are returning to the men's wardrobe; picture the dark grey of wet asphalt, cement or cloudy sky and shades of grey characterized by brownish, blue or greenish halftones. Elegant coats, classic trousers, woollen shirts, and fashionable grey suits offered by Emporio Armani, Brunello Cucinelli, Tom Ford, Dior and Louis Vuitton are sewn from grey fabrics. Grey leather also deserves attention, seen in the form of leather raincoats, jackets, pants and handbags.
