Girard-Perregaux’s Casquette 2.0 Styled by Saint Laurent

The iconic 1970s digital wristwatch is back in all-black.

The original Casquette was produced from 1976 to 1978, amidst the electrifying era of the quartz revolution. Galvanised by buzzwords like “disruptive”, “innovative” and “unorthodox”, the digital wristwatch with a driver-type LED display became highly sought-after by watch enthusiasts and stylish trendsetters alike, elevating it to cult status.

Last year, Girard-Perregaux revisited this retro-futuristic design with the Casquette 2.0. The sleek, tapered profile is newly encased in scratch-resistant ceramic and Grade 5 titanium, wearing comfortably on the wrist at just 107 grams thanks to its ceramic bracelet with a rubber interior. The GP3980 quartz movement is also updated with additional functionality, including month and year indications, chronograph, second time zone and a secret date. The lattermost mechanism allows the wearer to display a significant date (such as an anniversary) daily at a specified time.

Resonating with the avant-garde creative spirit of Saint Laurent Rive Droite, Creative Director Anthony Vaccarello has decided to re-edit 100 pieces of the iconic model in full black, with a black PVD treatment for the titanium caseback. The Casquette 2.0 Saint-Laurent 01 is exclusively available at Saint Laurent Rive Droite stores in Paris and Los Angeles, as well as online via the official Saint Laurent Rive Droite store.
